Berlin Day 3 (May 25, 2011)+ Back to Fulda (May 26-27, 2011)

On our second try, we actually made it to the sightseeing tour! It took about three hours and went to all of the major points of interest in Berlin. We saw so many things I can't name them all, but among the highlights were Checkpoint Charlie, part of the Berlin wall that's left standing, the government buildings, the olympic stadium, and the Bradenburg Gate. The tour guide spoke both German and English so it was nice to hear the history behind things and actually be able to understand it haha After the tour we checked out of our hotel and caught the train back to Fulda.

On Thursday back in Fulda I spent most of the day waiting on Fed-ex to show up with my new debit card. Then Marina's cousin Daniel came over for dinner and he took us to get ice cream afterwards. Then we walked around downtown Fulda and went back to the Dom and the castle garden.

Today we spent most of the day getting things ready for our trip to Austria. We also visited Marina's great-grandmother, Oma, again. We are leaving bright and early on a train to Salzburg, Austria at 7 am. The train ride should last about 5 hours.

Fun fact: You can find people dressed as Yoda, gorillas, martians, and statues at the Bradenburg gate.
Since so much of the city was destroyed in WWII, some areas have fake buildings in place until funds become available to build replacements.

Hello blog followers, random readers, and friends! Our bus tour in Berlin was awesome. We had the best seats on the bus! We were on the very top with a view from every angle. I did not enjoy the costumed people at the Bradenburg gate. We went to Olympic Stadium right after  Germany beat France it was nice to see all the fans running around with flags and being merry in their victory.
Today was rather slow...piddled around then went to KAUFLAND (a huge grocery store)Brooke and I love going to the grocery stores around here. It is funny to see all the different brands and flavors of things. Roast Chicken potato chips anyone? Visited Oma and smelled my lemon pie plant :)

Austria tomorrow! Last minute packing then going to bed!
